Scanning back through what I've marked on goodreads, I don't even remember a lot of the books that I apparently read this year.

I really liked the Martian, though I haven't seen the movie yet. Reread a Canticle for Leibowitz and it was still great.

Was disappointed by Asimov, Frank Herbert and Dan Simmons... spotty, spotty output. How can they alternate between such excellent writing and such terrible writing?

Reread In the Skin of a Lion by Ondaatje and didn't like it nearly as much this time.

Surprise highlight: Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. I'd never heard of it, but it was good.

Jhumpa Lahiri is always solid reading.
