Hey guys,

I'm with the Forward Arts Foundation in London, I thought they might enjoy the Forward/emagazine Student Critics Competition for young poetry lovers aged 14-19.

The competition invites either short (500 word max.) essays or poems with critical commentaries inspired by the poems on this year’s Forward Prizes shortlist.

To make things a little easier, we have included a pack of 10 Forward-shortlisted poems on the competition page, which you can find by searching for 'English and Media Forward Prize' on Google, as well as more details about the competition

There are 2 separate age categories for students: 14-16 (GCSE), 16-19 (A Level, IB, PreU), as well as a category for teachers to join in.

Entries will be judged by last year’s Forward shortlisted poet Sinéad Morrissey, and young winners will receive £100 plus tickets to the Forward Prizes on 18 September. Teachers win a covetable set of the ten shortlisted collections.

The deadline for entries is at midnight on 31st July 2018.

Good luck!

Romantic poetry is nice to read but to understand the real meaning behind all the words is also very essential. I also love to write poetry in my spare time. But my target is to write essayontime about realistic topics.
