Before I post the prologue to a non-fiction writing that I am currently in the process of, I just wanted to make sure that I am not violating any of the rule of this forum. There is a lot of swearing and drug references in my writing. The forum rules only seem to mention a ban on scenes of a violent or sexual nature, and not of drug themes. But I wanted to clarify this before going ahead.

This really shouldn't be posted in the Novels (Realistic) section since this isn't a novel. It's a notice for a novel that you'll be posting later, which means, it'll probably be better off in Literary Discussion.

My experience has been that swearing and drug use isn't really an issue, so long as you warn readers explicitly ahead of time so they can decide whether they're mature enough to read or not. The forum is, generally, made up of people in their teens to their early twenties, so generally it's not anything most people haven't seen before. That said, there are of course some very young writers here which is what the warning is for.

Generally, I've always thought the rules against violence and sexual content were more so that people weren't posting gorn and erotica on a forum aimed at minors.

Pro-tip: because my first instinct is to procrastinate anything I see as an obligation or responsibility, asking me for a critique is a good way to make sure I never give you a critique.

This ^

We don't allow porn or erotica, because as Infinity said, there are minors on this forum, but anything else is fine. If you feel your content is only suitable for those over a certain age, you're free to say so, and give content warnings if you wish.

Edit: Also, moved to Q&A

I suggest you post in the Novels (Members Only) section so that random youngsters who are not members on YWO won't be able to read it. That being said, s'all good. As Lykaios and Infinity mentioned, put a disclaimer beforehand and you'll be good to go. Also, welcome to the forum.
