I planned to put this up a few weeks ago but had some unexpected internet troubles and then I just forgot. Butttt here it is at last and I want lots of entries from oldies and newbies alike. Let's get some tinsel and festive spirit in this place!

You can write about whatever you like in whatever style/setting/time period you like, and in whatever format you like so I'm happy to accept poems and scripts and things as well as short stories. But your entry must include one or more of these things (bonus points if anyone writes something with all these in):
  • An unwelcome Christmas guest
  • An empty bottle of sherry
  • A reindeer
  • Charles Dickens
  • A chimney
  • A ghost child
  • /$45,000 in banknotes
  • Very stinky socks
  • A desert
  • Magic tinsel
  • A talking turkey
  • A snow angel that comes to life
  • Christmas spirit!

The deadline is midnight (GMT) on the 5th of January, there's no minimum word limit but please don't send me anything longer than 5,000 words, and please PM all entries to me for judging! Prizes will depend on the amount of entries so I'll update on that later.

Any questions, post below or VM me. I'll be lurking around every day now I'm back home.

Write about all of them?

Challenge accepted.

Very stinky socks? Blimey, I think that's my forte.

Phew, holidays were pretty busy, but I managed to get a quick first draft out today. It came out a little different than what I'd expected when I saw the list--the perspective character, at least, is completely new--but other than that it's pretty much what I set out to write. I'll send you a copy when I edit it, Lyk. Can't wait to see what everyone else came up with!

I just saw this today so mine might ends up a wee bit rushed. None the less (wait, do you write that all together? I feel like I should know that), I WILL finish and submit this no matter how poorly written and unedited it ends up being. I want to write more so I really NEED to do this.

I just write so [beep]ing slow!!

Edit:
Question: Do the things have to really appear in the story or can they be just mentioned by someone?

I'm hoping it's the latter. I may or may not have managed to fit all of them in there, but several of them are just passing references and don't actually affect the story (and like three of them are all the same thing in one) so I'm hoping that's more of a fast and loose rule

And I think it's nonetheless. My browser isn't telling me that's incorrect, so...
