I'm not sure how many playwrights we have on YWO, but I thought I'd post this anyway.

The three finalists get a reading of their play with judges who give the finalists written feedback on their plays. The winner is chosen a few days later and has their play put on stage the next year, allowing the playwright time to revise their script.

This contest is run by a community theater (mine, to be exact). I've been involved in the Playwright Contest for the past two years, and it's really cool to see a new work put on stage.

I don't know if there are rules for people outside the US. I could ask if someone was interested. The last two years the playwright has traveled here to see their play performed, but you don't have to. They video tape the performance.

Orpheus Theatre is pretty small, as community theaters go, and they need more people to submit to this. So if you have a play, send it in! (And let me know if you do. :p)

For more information, such as where to send your play, check out Orpheus Theatre's website.
